DIY essential oil soy candles

So other than pilates, essential oils and food… I LOVE candles especially ones hand made and scented with essential oils. I am consciously trying to create more, allow my passions to flow and learn to hand make things I would usually buy. This was my first attempt with candles and I have to say I am pretty happy with how they came out (Saturday night creations) stay tuned for even more refined and exciting DIYs!

  • Sauce pan
  • Heat proof bowl
  • Essential oils (I used lavender, lemongrass and grapefruit in separate batches… you could try creating yummy blends also)
  • Soy candle wax flakes
  • Candle wick
  • Jars for wax to be poured in to create candle

  • Boil water in saucepan (how much water depends on size of saucepan, enough so it just doesn’t touch the bowl)
  • Reduce to simmer and place bowl on top double check not touching
  • Place soy flakes into bowl and allow to melt down (stir through)
  • Add essential oils once melted
  • Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly
  • Prepare jars and wicks
  • Pour wax around wick into jar
  • Cool over night and cut wick before burning
